Default Accel card compatibility in Magma PE6R4

I plan on adding another accel card in my Magma PE6R4. I recall reading on the DUC there can be issues with older accel cards not working in the Magma PE6R4. Anyone know which revisions I should avoid and which are compatible. I have a line on a REV B accel card but not sure if this is one of the old cards that is not compatible with the Magma PE6R4.

Thanks

I worked a little more than two years with a rev B card in a PE6R4 without any problems.

If I remember well there has never been a problem with HD Accel cards in a Magma PE6R4, but there can be a problem with a Rev "K" HD Core card in a Magma PE6R4 in combination with some types of 'Westmere' Mac Pro's. I had this problem and Avid replaced my Rev "K" HD Core card for free.

Btw, I have 5 HD Accel cards in my Magma PE6R4-i, a mix of old and more recent cards with unknown revision numbers and they all work fine

Thanks for the responses Serge and Marc.
I believe Serge had previously posted he had an issue with an accel card in the Magma PE6R4 and had to have Avid update the card.

You are right. I had a problem during installation of the magma because one of the card had to be updated.(costing more than $400.00) . The card was working great in a pci-x computer without the magma. Unfortunately I don't remember which card... After sending it to the avid dealer(CEV) for a update, I never had a problem (more than 2 years).

Hi Jimmy,

I doubt because I send you two cards with the latest rev. We gave the oldest revision cards to Avid when doing some HDX hardware exchanges. Keeping all the cards with the newest rev for sale.

Thumbs up Re: Accel card compatibility in Magma PE6R4

If you are going to use a Magma expansion chassis you have to make sure that you are using the current model. The PE6R4 is an obsoldete model. The PE6R4-I is current model.
Here's a video on what a PE6R4-I looks like and it also demonstrates how to install Pro Tools cards.

Smile Re: Accel card compatibility in Magma PE6R4

Pro Tools Core Rev K is the one that is incompatible or I would say having issues. If you are planning on adding another Pro Tools cards in the Magma expansion unit make sure you connect the yellow ribbon flex cable from Port B of core card to Port A of Accel or Process card.

Here's a video posted on vimeo, about Pro Tools cards installation in Magma expansion PE6R4-I unit.
