DAWs as operating systems
Thought this might be fun...
It strikes me that DAWs are roughly where operating systems were around 1997 or so. In analogy: Pro Tools: Mac Cubase: Windows Nuendo: Windows NT Logic: NeXT Reaper: BeOS Ableton Live: Amiga Ardour: Linux Sequoia/Samplitude/Sonar (I can never tell them apart  ): SolarisDigital Performer: VMS  Reason: Timex Sinclair  ...

You forgot Garage Band: OSX Where's Dave Cutler when you need him  The Pro Tools-Mac is handholding goes way back. Both are Hardware Purveyers. Also that time frame was where Apple very nearly foundered. Figured out what made Apple great and recovered. And it wasn't the nuts and bolts hardware-as stylish as it was.

Pro Tools: Mercedes Cubase: BMW Nuendo: Porsche Logic: VW Reaper: Skoda Ableton Live: Daewoo Sonar: Honda Digital Performer: Toyota Reason: Mazda (MX5) ;-)
