Issues with the M-Audio 410 F/W Interface

Ok, this isnt exactly a HUGE issue but it gets annoying. After i open protools (Ver 7.1 LE) and i adjust my volume on my interface after a while the interface will not allow me to adjust the volume using the volume knob on the front panel, instead i have to adjust it through the software. Any idea why7 its doing this?
