Re: Asked to download Quicktime to import files, but it's already downloaded
While on this, what do people use for splitting long audio files? Fission is nice but AFAIK it can't batch convert files and chop them up as well.
e.g. right now I want to go from multi-hour mp3 to AIFF, change sample rate and then chop up the final files to be small enough for Pro Tools. I wish Pro Tools would just have a "don't care about backwards compatibility file length" option and just let us move into the late 20 century. |

It’s possible Wave Agent will do this for you

Re: Asked to download Quicktime to import files, but it's already downloaded
I don't think Wave Agent does, it was more about splice together mono recording into multi-track and visa versa, not time based cut/joins. And Wave Agent is abandonware, no 32-bit float support and not Apple Silicon native. I'll send the folks at Rogue Amoeba an enhancement request email.

Re: Asked to download Quicktime to import files, but it's already downloaded
Well, to be fair, you didn’t say anything about 32bit floating point or time based edits or Silicon Native. You mentioned chopping up converted MP3’s.
There’s always Audacity, FLStudio, Reaper, Soundforge. |

Re: Asked to download Quicktime to import files, but it's already downloaded
Wave Agent does not chop up files by time *at all* and that's the primary need here. Fission's auto find of gaps to chop on is a nice feature and if they built this capability on that it would be neat.

Darryl,
I can't help by notice that you've just done exactly what you routinely chide others for, namely camping on somebody else's thread. Nobody's perfect, eh?

Bob
Yes guilty as charged, I got interested in Rogue Amoeba's Fission after seeing it mentioned, and I've not looked at it in a while and I had just faced slicing up a bunch of files. And yes then that ends up yanking the thread. Hopefully the OP's problem got sorted. Never claimed I'm perfect. Darryl |

Re: Asked to download Quicktime to import files, but it's already downloaded
Hi everyone,
Let's all stay happy and kind. Thank you very much to everyone who helped, I used cloud convert to convert the tracks to mp3, which has worked!! Yippee. I am still trying to figure out how to even work ProTools, there's a lot to learn! Thank you again. Aimie |
