Re: PT HD same interface quality
FYI - the ADAT in on the 003 rack only support up to 48kHz.

Re: PT HD same interface quality
I only record at 44khz due to the maths when down scaling but I take it the convertors in the 003 are not in the same league as say the 192 so now as pt9 is open I'd like to get the same high quality as HD if that is possible
regards

so you would think the 003 isn't in the same league... but it really is. The converter and Mic preamp maybe equate to about 1 or 2% of the overall sound you are recording. So swapping them around really has no effect on fidelity, so long as the recorded levels are identical. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t...BLA+Experiment

Re: PT HD same interface quality
the difference comes into play with multiple tracks, all the comparisons show is one track when you have a mix with 32/64 tracks is where you really notice the difference in imaging, depth, clarity ... there is a big difference

Re: PT HD same interface quality
I recommend either rme, lynx or apogee or get your 003 modded by black lion. If you want a true improvement i recommend a pcie card set up but of you need a mobile set up might as well just mod the 003. A avolon mic pre will show a major improvement. Even with hd, if you buy hd but give it crap mic pres all you really payed for was the latency imprpvements. Scratch apogee if youre on windows 7.
