I am, though I'm not a power user. Love my C24 though, and the only thing I didn't know was that I can't use all 16 inputs on the c24 unless I get an A/D box and lightpipe into the 002R.

Hi,

I saw your post.

I am currently evaluating if I should change my current Sonar platform to ProTools. In that respect I have been wondering if you are not limited to 8 tracks sim. recording via a c24/002 system. Or is it possible to record 16 tracks at once to the c24 connected via the above setup ? Can you do that ? If any - what additional equipment is required ?

Pleased to hear from you.

Best regards,

If you add another AD to the 002 then you can do more.

The Digi 002 rack by itself has 8 analog inputs, 8 ADAT/lightpipe digital inputs, and 2 S/PDIF digital inputs, all of which are available simultaneously -- which means 18 simulataneous inputs. If all of your sources are analog (mic/line signals) you'll need A/D converters to use the digital inputs. Typically people use an 8-channel A/D box for the ADAT/lightpipe (Rosetta 800, Tango24, AI-3, Digimax, ...) and a 2-channel unit for the S/PDIF (Rosetta 200, UA 2192, Flying Cow, ...).

The Control|24 is simply a controller for Pro Tools -- it does not add any additional I/O to a Pro Tools system. It's got some mic preamps, a control room monitor section, and some analog routing/mixing capabilities, but you would still need additional A/D (and/or D/A) as mentioned above to get > 8 simultaneous inputs (and/or outputs) with the Digi 002 rack.

All that being said, definitely switch from Sonar to Pro Tools. It's the indistry standard for a reason -- you won't look back.

Works great for me. Also have extra 8 I/O via lightpipe. Running on the XP platform.
