Now I have to sell it

So the Digi 003 Rack its not working with PT 12.8.3 or they didn't test it?

10 years support of an outdated system isn't enough?

I know it sucks for you and others, but if Avid didn't prioritise and strategise, they would literally be no more. We NEED Avid to stay afloat.

They simply can't afford to devote resources to such a thing any more and i guarantee you that's why they stopped it.

As for whether it actually works, i don't know, sorry.

I am just collecting money to build a project studio and everything is out of date.. Macbook, Audio interface..etc!

Any suggestion for replacement? I am using also a Presonus Digimax Fs with 003rack.

Presonus, Antelope Audio, Uaudio, Focusrite?

It´s current tech, Thunderbolt 2 (super low latency) and relatively affordable
for what you get. And from experience the gear of the same brand always use to
communicate well.

If it has to be even more affordable than the Presonus Quantum 2 your best bet
will be any of the Focusrite interfaces. They offer the by far best audio quality in
regards to it´s converters and preamps in the lower price range.

For a new MacBook Pro you may look at the Apple refurbished store where you can
get good quality stuff with Apple warranty for a good price.
For example check out the MBPs from 2016. Just make sure it´s got an i7 Quad Core
processor, 16GB Ram memory and no fusion drive. Then you are ready for Pro Tools
12 anyway.

i understand. My original focusrite saffire, the actual best one they ever made with DSP, stopped working at snow leopard. For some reason they abandoned it to focus on inferior cheap saffires.

My avid C600 and Mbox 3 have now been officially dropped for driver updates high sierra and onwards.

i have to use hacks and third party drivers for some old gear.

it's just the nature of the beast.

But like you can't afford it, i am telling you that Avid literally can't support everything past a certain date or they will go bust.

I had to change OS just recently to keep up to date with pro tools. Nothing frustrated me more than that, but in a way, i understand (and i actually blame apple).
People are upset they are dropping win 7 support.. and i get that too, but it's a 9yo OS and is not being sold anymore.

I hope you find a work around or that it's just on "paper" so to speak, as in, no official support, but still works.

I'm running Pro Tools 12.8.3 with a 003. Avid simply don't test the later PT versions with older gear like the 003. That's highly understandable.

This is the problem VRW, now I had replace laso my laptop.. there is no Thunderbolt on it or USB 3.0
Here in Hungary, Apple products are the most expensive in Europe...
So even for a 2016 laptop I have to pay 2.300 Euro and if I do that then I cannot build my studio..

New OS with bugs every year as Avid!
I was thinking to buy as iMac but for 2.300 euros I can buy only an i5 with 8GB of ram.
So maybe I should build a PC with the half of the money with i7 since Win 10 is working much better than 7?

if anything, put more ram, at least 16..modern OSes chew like nobody's business!

In fact, they are the opposite. Microsoft has it's own issues, but they have never released a new OS yearly that almost completely beaks backwards compatibility. Sorry, i disagree about that. It's because of that i'm considering going back to windows after 9 years on mac. 9.5 to be exact :) (june 2008)

I was pricing up a nice win 10 machine today that i could build myself, with an 8 core X chip, 32gb ram, a 30 inch 2560*1600 (what's important to me is getting as much on the screen at once, not these more and more resolution as multiples of something that is too big a resolution for the screen to begin with),
4 ssd and one mechanical drive, and it was a bit cheaper than my imac in 2011 LOL.

Anyway, to be totally fair, the new imac pro, the reviewers compared building something with same parts, and it was the same or even more money than apple. It has server processors and top ram.. the thing is, for us, it doesn't matter.. the consumer grade processors and non ECC ram really are fine for almost any studio.. but apple doesn't give us a choice.
And plus, it HAS to use high sierra, which breaks so many things. Why are they removing 32 but support in an update? why do they even care if someone wants to use a few older 32 bit apps? Apple just FORCE and FORCE people to "move on". it's getting so tiring.
