12.8 MIDI Editor window is extremely laggy
I know the MIDI editor window has always been laggy, but it seems to have gotten worse with 12.8.
There is a noticeably delay when moving the piano roll around, and the refresh rate is poor. |

Re: 12.8 MIDI Editor window is extremely laggy
Update:
I tested the same project on Windows 10 (running on the same iMac, via Bootcamp) and there is no lag with the MIDI window (piano roll). It's quite snappy -- the way you would expect what amounts a spreadsheet to run. I should stress that I am only referring to the window behavior -- not the actual audio performance. This has intrigued me enough to keep testing PT on Windows 10 to see how well it runs. I've noticed that Avid has not updated the Windows version of the GUI for high DPI monitors, so it's a bit grainy looking. |

not just midi window
Automation of pop-out faders in the edit window are hardly usable. Now, to be fair I am using 1440P via Nvidia 1080-8gb. OS Nvidia drivers? Mac OS? ProTools HD Code? HDX Firmware?

It's not unusable. I guess I'm a bit spoiled from having been using "retina" displays for the past couple of years. It's hard to go back after that :)

Re: 12.8 MIDI Editor window is extremely laggy
Update:
I've narrowed the issue down to the second monitor (DELL 4K). When I run the MIDI editor in the main iMac display, it is more responsive. Additionally, if I drag PT itself into the second monitor, it gets noticeably laggy. I think the issue may be specific to the way the DPI scaling works on the second monitor. |
