I would like to know is there a way to just purchase Protools 11hd without getting the hardware? I'm asking only becuase they are not offering the toolkit anymore.... And this is for anyone who would like to just buy the software even if they never own an HD license.. thanks..

The only way to do this is if already own the production toolkit. Then you can buy the upgrade to PT11HD for $999. This is currently the only way to buy PTHD without hardware.

chance to buy hd even if cost 999 moré cptk value or other purchase alternative

That is what Avid has tried to provide for you folks, but you have not agreed on the pricing.

Now I do get your point; you would want to have a price tag for PT HD 11 standalone, without hardware nor previous purchases.

I do agree. There should be such a product. There should be a PT HD 11 standalone.

But its price would not satisfy you. It would be something like PT|Native minus 500 bucks. Would you be happy with it? (just a guess, not Avid opinion in any way)

Avid needs to make their money. Traditionally it has been from hardware, which has subsidiased software. Now if you want to only buy software, it is not that cheap as you think. Protools is not competing with Logic. Never has, never will. If you really think full PT can be had for the price point of Logic, you will always be disappointed.

Sorry. This is just the reality.

Its really too soon to know what will happen, but with the elimination of the CPTK, its very possible that Avid will offer the software in both forms, without hardware(which is my hope).

JFreak, you're slightly wide of the mark of the mark in including EAP in 'you folks' and saying ... but you've not agreed on pricing.

EAP clearly says in an earlier post on this thread that he does not have CPTK. That is also the position of flautista, the other main contributor to the thread.

What these guys are asking about, is whether there is any route by which they can get HD software without buying HD hardware and without an existing CPTK licence asset.

They are clearly people who, from their comments, had not got around to buying CPTK, but may well have done at some point in the future. As things currently stand, that option is no longer open to them.

As things stand, therefore, EAP and flautista's only current route to HD software is by the purchase of HD hardware.
