Default Different guitar sound after I record

I set up a nice guitar sound before I record, and after I record the guitar track it sounds different. I read on some posts mute the track but when I do that the track is muted. I see the waveform but I don't know what I'm tracking. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

This nice guitar sound; how can you tell? What are you hearing? Only via a mic, or some acoustic bleed added?

Way more info needed. How can we guess what you are doing?

Acoustic? Electric? What exact model guitar?

How are you recording? Micing the guitar? Piezo pickup? Recording DI input? Micing a guitar amp/cab? What exact amp? mic? Using a guitar amp plugin or a outboard processor?

The before and after sounds different how? Of course playing back vs. hearing live in a room will sound different.

If you mean the guitar sounds different than when monitoring... how are you monitoring?

Ok, I'll be more specific.
Explorer into 11 Rack, custom preset. Your standard in/out configuration, out to mains. There was a post here that you have to mute the track you are going to record on. (I can't find that thread here anymore)but obviously when you mute the track, you can't hear it. I see the waveforms but you have to hear what you're tracking. Hope this helps.

Again, Thanks in advance

??? you normally do not mute anything ... why would you. You want to hear the wet signal while tracking. (you might be seeing threads talking about using the Eleven Rack with non-Pro Tools DAWs, ignore them, not relevant).

We have no idea what you mean by “standard in/out”.

But you still have not explained near enough. What input are you recording on the Eleven Rack? How does it sound different?

The easiest beginner mistake is to record the dry Guitar In signal when you mean to record the Wet Rig Out signal. Or you record both but are playing back the wrong one. Simple things like not volume matching on playback also trip people up.

So again, *exactly* what are you doing... in enough detail somebody could reproduce what you are doing. Stereo or mono audio track? recording what inputs on the Eleven Rack, etc.

The way to get started with the Eleven Rack is to use some of the simpler Eleven Rack session templates that come in Pro Tools. And look for tutorials on YouTube. Do this in a dedicated session to play with and learn and keep it super simple to start, no other plugins etc.
