Default Pops, Clicks prob in 48kHz sessions - OK with 44,1

I have some kind of setup issue, but it's not obvious to me what to do to next address this problem. I changed my setup a month or so ago and am using Focusrite Clarett 2pre as my interface via Thunderbolt. I have been recording 44.1 sessions with no problems, and now trying to open and create 48kHz sessions.

The 48kHz session will open and play or record, but with constant cracks and pops. That sounds like a definite clock problem.

I have changed the clock in Focusrite Control to 48 and the "sync" light is green. I have changed the session to 48 in PT. What am I missing?

I have previosuly used a Focurite Scarlett for additional input, and when doing that I set Focusrite clock to "ADAT" for the Scarlett channels, but now I am only using the Clarett and have Focusrite clock is set to "internal".

System details:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015 OSX El Capitan)
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3AMD Graphics Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB
INTERFACE/PRE
Focusrite Clarett 2Pre Interface

I'm not a big Mac guy, so hopefully someone else will chip in here, but have you gone through the Optimization Guide? Are you using the latest Focusrite Control?

Thanks Joel...UI have done the Optimization. Found this on Focusrite website, and this is my computer and build so, just my luck...I'll keep working on it.
Applies to: Clarett Range

UPDATE (3rd October 2016):

We have a build of our Thunderbolt driver which we believe alleviates the problem with glitchy audio present on iMac 17,1 systems - this build fixes the problem with playback at all sample rates, however on some systems there have been reports of occasional clicks/pops when recording. This build has had some testing but has not yet been through our full QA procedure, though we are seeing positive results with this version. If you have a Clarett interface and the affected model of iMac please Contact Support who will be able to send this out for you to try.

We have been doing all that we can to find a resolution since learning about the problem and are continuing to do so. Unfortunately, since the issue occurs only on one very specific system and only occurred after an update to OS X, we have requested assistance from Apple and are liaising with them to find a permanent solution. We will update this article and any customers who have previously raised this issue with our support team as soon as possible.

We have recently been made aware of some problems with Clarett interfaces when used in conjunction with the latest update to El Capitan (version 10.11.5) and later (including macOS Sierra) and a particular iMac Model (Model Identifier: iMac 17,1. iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid or Late 2015).

If you're unsure which specific Mac model you have, you can find this information by clicking the Apple Logo in the top left corner of the screen, then going to About This Mac > System Report. The 'Model Identifier' appears in the Hardware tab.

This issue tends to affect all sample rates above 44.1kHz, but you should get clear audio when using 44.1kHz.

We are discussing this issue with Apple as a matter of priority with a view to finding a solution as soon as possible. As soon as we have more information on this matter we will update this article.

Well that's bad luck! Hopefully their beta driver can get you going though, I've been using the beta driver for my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 for almost a year now, seems to work well.

From Focusrite....
We have a beta build of our Thunderbolt driver which we believe alleviates the problem with glitchy audio present on playback at all sample rates using iMac 17,1 systems which you can download here: https://sync.focusrite.com/s/vWreI90Vs7PUVm7

For the archives... this has not solved my problems and I have emailed Focusrite. The clicks, when they occur, happen in both the Clarett and the Scarlett and get the clicks in the same spots...

Here is a session screenshot of a pop. There are 2 mics...one in Clarett 2Pre and the other in theScarlett 18i/20.

Do you have 2 devices connected by a digital connection(SPDIF or Lightpipe)? If yes, then its most likely a clocking issue as this requires one unit to be the master and the other must be the slave. and both need to be set to the same sample rate(look for an External Sync LED on the slave unit to show that its properly locked)

Just saw this...No I have the Clarett2Pre as a slave to the Scarlett's time clock via ADAT optical...and the sync lock is on. This is a know (but as yet unsolved) problem
