Default Multi Core / Processor support coming to PT?

Has anyone read the following announcement:

http://www.digidesign.com/news/detai...63&localonly=N

"In the Avid Developer Community pavilion, Digidesign will offer a sneak peak of an upcoming version of Pro Tools software for Windows XP systems that supports Multi-Core Hyper-Threading, offering increased performance for host computer operations such as RTAS® plug-in processing."

Cool, very cool indeed Finally multi-processor support is on the way, which means more RTAS power

If it's anything like other platforms, the plugins themselves will have to be rewritten to take advantage of the multi-threaded support. But I honestly doubt we'll see this in Digi Pro Tools LE for some time.

my understanding is pt supports dual processing which adds about 10-15 per cent increase in "power". HT support would probably be the same or maybe less... I dont know if this is the ticket. I agree with Chris... the verbage of that announcement is slight of hand IMHO.

To my knowledge, all PT RTAS plugins run on the same thread, so RTAS processing does NOT take advantage of multiple CPUs. Looks like that's what they will be adding.
