Default S6 Purchasing Advice

Hi All,

I just wanted to get some of the S6 users feedback ... are you happy with your purchase ... did it improve your mixing / workflow. I just made the transition to mixing almost fully ITB and want to make the move from my Artist Control and Mix(s) to a S6.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated ... I'm a little nervous about dropping almost $100k on a control surface, but don't have a problem if it's the right thing to get ... and if it's going to continue to get support / updates from Avid for the years to come (like will support be dropped when the next generation controller is released).

Thanks again.

Depends
I love mine, upgraded from a D-Command, and the S6 is just so much more.
You can not compare it to your artist stuff (I have also tried those), the S6 is lightyears from those.

Thanks Anders ...

And it seems from browsing this thread there is good support and the software is getting to a good place.

Thanks Eddie,

I think I'm going to make the move!

Just took a walk through with Jeff Komar at AES yesterday.

I'm sure you'll see me posting questions when I'm up and running!

Best,

Joe

M40 - 32 Channel / 9 Knob w Producers desk.

If I set it up from left to right: 24 channels - master section - prod desk - 8 channels ... would that put the master section and producers desk relatively in mix position.

I have another question regarding the MRTX box; I'll post on a new thread.

Thanks !

A nice sized console...the beauty of S6 is that you can switch the layout around if it doesn't work for you ;-)
