Default Protools 6 Allows Initiation of Plug-ins on the Fly?!?

This was posted by wcody in the Protools LE Forum. He Just got back from AES with the following to report:

"The PT 6 TDM demo was trouble-free. Absolutely smooth, seamless and fast. No hint of instability. Imagine invoking plugs WHILE a session is playing. If you've got the bucks, the TDM HD system is the cat's meow (bee's knees?). "

Can anyone confirm that Protools 6 now has the ability to initiate TDM plug-ins during playback ???

Yes, you can instantiate a TDM plug-in on the fly in the new PT 6. There is about a 1/4 second drop out of audio when you do this, but its way better than what we're used to at the moment. This is for plug-ins only, you cannot do the same to I/O or Aux sends.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">It would be more useful, but it will require mixer reconfiguration, so I understand it's harder to do - and noone wish that - at least I remember everyone was talkin about plug-ins, not sends

Just one thing while reading theese posts:

How could the digi team would program a software who permits instantiating plug-ins and ask at the same time plug-in delay compensation, you imagine the drop in sound(glitches) Protools have to re-calculate the plug-in delay(specific to this one)and at the same time stop audio(even while playing!)

I think you have to makup your mind about how smooth would be one option over the other(instantiating while playing or plug-in delay compensation)

Don't forget that if you instantiate one plug-in(while delay compensation) the software has to calculate two different tasks before re-aligning all(...) the tracks playing at that moment.

...wow!!!

I know it's difficult, but this is what computers are for, isn't it? If Nuendo (2.0) can do it, why PT cannot?
