Best Input for Roland Fantom G??

Hi,
For my Roland Fantom G, which inputs should I send the balance outs? To the line level inputs of my pre's, the mic inputs, or the 1/4" DI inputs?

Also, could you please explain why so I can comprehend the engineering behind this routing?
