Default MPD18/EzDrummer

I can't seem to get my Akai MPD18 to work with Ezdrummer or Pro Tools for that matter. Can someone please help?

I'm using Pro Tools LE 8.0.3
Operating System Windows XP Pro
Service pack three.
The Midi Thru is checked.
There's no drivers necessary according to Akai for the MPD 18

Describe the entire process to the tiniest detail as it might be something simple(and easy to overlook). Like ezdrummer must be in the very top insert slot....on a STEREO instrument track.......and you must enable record-ready..... Do you have any other midi devices in your system? Do those work? You get the idea

FWIW I have the M-Audio Trigger Finger and it works nicely(but it did come with a disc with drivers and some software for customizing the pads, which is an exercise in frustration). The standard assignments on page 1(of 5 pages of pad configurations) takes care of most everything with no fuss. I battled thru customizing another page to have double pads for playing in rolls(using 2 pads for each drum makes rolls waaaaaay easier to play).

Okay sorry about that. I do have the EZdrummer loaded up on Insert one (the program does work i can use the mouse to make the drum sounds) and I have the record-ready enabled. I think my main problem is I have no idea how to set up the controller to pro tools than sync it with EZdrummer.
