Default SoundTools Phase Scope

I was reading the manual/guide for the Phase Scope (SoundTools PlugIn) and it appears that a reading of "0" zero on the phase meter indicates a perfect stereo image. Does that mean that if you have typical readings between 0 and +1 that your mix is out of phase. The guide further indicates that a reading of +1 means that you have a perfect monaural signal. Does anyone have an understanding of how to effectively use this tool? When I use my ears I know that my mixes are not out of phase but the meter typically fluctuates between 0 and +1.

Also, what exactly should I be seeing in the phasescope? What's good and what's bad?

Thanks,

Torchlight
