Default Very simple midi question

What mode do i have to have PT in, so I can record midi with transport in a loop, without PT erasing existing notes each time it goes over the same area?

There is a MIDI MERGE icon button on the Transport window. (It is the second from the right - next to the "Conductor")

This will allow you to do several passes without erasing previous MIDI data.

This video shows it at around 0:40
