Default Sweetwater Weekly Newsletter...

I got my weekly Sweetwater Updates & Upgrades newsletter (inSynch) and it contained a notice that Avid had released an update to Pro Tools...8.0.5. I was hoping it was a cs update for some of the bugs that were introduced with 8.0.5, but it wasn't, just 8.0.5.

8.0.5 was released by Avid March 9. Is Sweetwater a little behind or are they ahead and a cs update is coming soon?

Cheers,

Well whoever spilled the beans on this new update will soon find themselves out of a job.

The essential word here Bruce is 'to' Pro Tools 8.0.5 and not 'for' Pro Tools 8.0.5. To be frank, I was surprised Avid Audio released Pro Tools 8.0.5 that still supports Win XP. This statement from the Pro Tools 9 What's New Guide explains the end to Pro Tools LE and M-Powered. But further releases, Pro Tools 8.0.5 and Pro Tools M-Powered 9.0 contradicted that.

Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered software will no longer be developed. Pro Tools 9.0 effectively replaces all lower versions of Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered software.

filo,

I understand what you're saying, but, since 8.0.5 had been out since March 9 and I'd already installed it and this issue of inSynch was April 21, and it said the following:

"Avid has released the following updates to Pro Tools:

  • Pro Tools 9.0.2
  • Pro Tools HD 8.1.1
  • Pro Tools 8.0.5
These are "CS" ("customer service) updates, which means they address small bugs or problems. Make sure that you download the proper update for your version of Pro Tools."

I was really hoping it was indeed a cs update to 8.0.5. I'd like them to fix the new video display glitch (very random) and the fact that the Clear/Delete/Alt shortcut for unused regions doesn't work anymore. Oh well.

Cheers,

Have you lodged those bugs Bruce? Squeaky wheel gets the juice.

I have filo. They're not showstoppers, just things not working in 8.0.5 the way they should and did in 8.0.4cs2.

Thanks,

Isn't that a bad turn of events. You know, they've got a be sexy, Bruce.
