New Dual 1 GHZ DDR Mac and Pro Tools works!!!

I just got my Dual Ghz DDR.

Installed Pro Tools cards, loaded 5.1.1 TDM software.

I'm now playing back a 20 track session with heavy edits, fades, automation, and digital picture lock. Tons of plug-ins......flawless!!!

Off of a Firewire drive.

Very smooth/fast performance

Obviously it boots up in 9.2.2. Good stuff!!!

Did you get a boot disk for 9.2.2 or for 10.2?

I believe with the G4s you get a set of software restore disks that allow you to repartition and reinstall 9.2.2 by itself. But I don't think there is a 9.2.2 boot up CD included. Is this correct?

BTW I was at an Apple store today and saw the new G4s. I gotta say that in person they look pretty cool. I dig the new vents and mirror on the front.

Yeah the G4 comes with X.2 Jaguar disks.

9.2.2 is on the restore disks. Haven't tried, but all of us Pro Tools users have a 9.2.2 disk somewhere I'm sure. I'd imagine you could use that to boot.

The G4's are beautiful in person!! The Apple site photos do them no justice.

How's the noise on the new mac (fans, etc.)?

The fan noise from the new G4 (dual 1.0 gig) is unbelievably loud. There are two fans inside. The larger one directed at the huge heat sink and the smaller one by the CD/DVD burner. (Four air holes in front and and bunch in the back)

Definately look into placing the G4 in another room or in a well designed whisper rack.

Have you tried recording yet? Have you tried synching Pro Tools with SMPTE,LTC, MTC, etc?

How about video?

I assume that these were Mix cards (not HD)?

if it was 5.1.1, it must have been MIX. thats good to hear... i'm still on mix....

but has anyone tried the new duals with HD??????????, (i want to upgrade both Mac and PT (PT later though).
