Default Third Party Plugins and Midi Input

Hello,

I'm brand new to the forum and indeed Pro Tools. I've just bought and installed the M - Powered version and all appears to be fine however I was wondering how I can use my existing software synths such as Reaktor. I've created the "AUX" track but the "plug in" label on the input is greyed out. How do I overcome this?

Also I have a Evolution midi keyboard which is USB. Works fine as an input to Reason but do I have to use the 5 pin DIN from it to the Audiophile 24/96 so Pro Tools can see it?

Pro Tools is installed on a Windows XP PC.

Any help on the above will be greatly appreciated.

Philip

Philip, you have to load Reaktor as an insert on the aux track, not the input. You also might have to re-install Reaktor so that the RTAS version is installed.

The evolution USB keyboard should be recognized by PTMP. Does it not show up in your MIDI track's input selector?

Thanks spkguitar for your help. I realise what I was doing - I needed to arm the midi track first then I could see the midi coming into the track - durrh!!! Should have thought of that one so that's sorted.

Yes, I see what you mean about selecting an insert point - it picked up Reason so I was able to access that via Rewire.

I understand there's "VSTi wrap" software. Is there any particular one that works most efficiently?

Many Thanks for your help.

Philip

Hi spkguitar

"There is only one: fxpansion.com"

Thanks for that info.

OK, I downloaded the latest update for REAKTOR 4 (4.1.3.005) and installed that and now Protools can see it in the insert selection window. If I choose it, the RTAS/ Reaktor window pops up and I can select one of the ensembles but I am unable to select the MIDI out within the MIDI channel as Reaktor does not show. However if I create a second Aux channel and open up a second instance of Reaktor and then select the MIDI out from the Midi channel it sees the second Reaktor and works fine. Any ideas?
