pro tools just disappears

I am a new mac pro user that is having problems running pro tools. I initially installed pro tools 7.0 and every time I tried to load it I would need to restart my computer. Then I downloaded 7.1.1, uninstalled the old version, installed 7.1.1, and completed most of the steps listed in the general troubleshooting thread. Now I get am able to get pro tools to start loading far enough to put in the authentication. After it accepts the authentication, the window disappears. The pro tools icon still looks active in the toolbar, but no program to be found.

I am a mac newbie so this is probably user error. Can I get some help?

When I look at system preferences, under other I see the Mbox 2. I do have the mbox, and that is what I used for authentication, but I am trying to run the 002, if that makes a difference. The 7.1.1 download says its compatible.

When you launch ProTools, can you choose New Session from the menu at the top?

As grindx says, you have to start a new session (or open an old one) to see the Pro Tools Screens.

File-->New Session.
