Default Delay / Feedback issues PT10

Mac mini server OS X 10.8.3, PT 10, RAM 8gbs, 2.66ghz i7 Quadcore Processor.

Records fine. However, when selecting the Upper record button and then the track record button, there is a "delay" when testing voice volume in the microphone. Almost like an echo/delay. However, when muted it goes away I can still hear myself and the vocals record fine.

is this a normal occurance? it happened in my old windows application for PT LE 8.

This is BEFORE and DURING when the recording session initiates.

Sounds like you're hearing a direct signal as well as the (delayed) main monitor. The latter is slightly later due to the inherent delays caused by the analog to digital conversion and back (+ Plug-in processing delays).

You can reduce the delay by selecting a smaller buffer but it cannot be eliminated altogether. Muting the track is the usual way round this.

I figured as much.

Also a buddy of mine who is putting together his own studio build, infact finished it. I had the honor to be the first to record in it, and noticed the same exact effect at his place as I've always seem to have in mine. I figured maybe he had purchased a system that would be unable to handle the application. Infact, he's not even using pro-tools, I believe he's using Logic Pro.

Interesting.
