MC PRO: 4 buttons-around-trackball-functionality

How can one assign functions (or maybe EuCon-commands) to the 4 buttons around the MC Pro's trackball(s) ??
I've recently bought a second hand Mc Pro with quite some issues (see below) and in the meanwhile i'm exploring its functionality......
