Default PT 6 breaks S/PDIF "out" and "inserts" on I/O setup

Since installing PT 6 LE (Digi001), I cannot get the S/PDIF "OUT" or "INSERT" I/O path to function. They are present in the I/O Setup window, but are permanently "n/a" (in italics).

This works just fine in PT 5.

Digi? Is this broken on PT 6 or ???

Go into your I/O Setup, hold down your option key and click on one of the patches, now they should all be highlighted, now click Delete Path.
Now click Default,then click OK.
Do that on your Ins and Outs and you should be fine.

Groove -

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried your technique, but no-go. I can delete all the paths per your technique, and then I click default, and the new paths appear. I did it on ALL the tabs.

However, only the INPUT shows S/PDIF I/O (i.e., channels 17 and 18). The OUTPUT and INSERT tabs NEVER give me channels 17 and 18 for S/PDIF.

Are you using PT6 LE with a Digi001?

Yes I'm using 001 with PTLE 6. Did you try trashing your DAE Prefs,DIGI Setup .OSX, and PTLE v6 Prefs ?

Tech Sup' told me they had to make a note of my bug too.
But I'm up and running.

Actually, the function isn't broken, just the UI is (on PTLE6.) The IOSetup window doesn't redraw correctly if you make a change to your setup that requires a UI change. So if you have S/PDIF mirroring turned on you see ch1-16. If you then turn off mirroring, you expect to see 17-18 appear, but they don't. Luckily, there's a workaround. Quit and relaunch Pro Tools. Not the greatest workaround but this type of change shouldn't be needed too often. The graphical bug will be fixed in an upcoming release.
Also, note that if you use optical S/PDIF, and your IOSetup shows ADAT 9-16, you can just use what is labelled as ADAT 9 & 10. The next time you start, that'll change to S/PDIF.

Hi wcody,
Digidesign Test department here.
We have already logged this issue as a bug and are working towards a fix.

Groove, Digi -

Thank you so much. What actually finally did the trick was deleting ALL the preferenced specified by Groove. Quitting and restarted iced the cake.

You are both the reason this is a GREAT forum.

Many regards -
