Avid HD I/O and Digidesign 192
Hi everyone,
First post for me here… First of all thanks to all for their contribution, this is a great resource ! I just got myself an old digidesign 192 interface to add some extra I/Os to my current system (HD Native PCIe and 1x Avid HD I/O), as after reading a few posts here I got the answer that they work fine together. So my HD I/O is connected with the DigiLink port on my HD Native card. Then I used two bnc 75 ohm cables for the loop sync (HD I/O out -> 192 in and 192 out -> HD I/O in). I also connected with an adapter the HD I/O's Expansion Port to the 192's Primary Port. I hope that so far it's all looking ok (?). My question now is: Do I also need a DigiLink authorization on my iLok as well, even if the actual link with the new HD Native PCIe card is through the Avid HD I/O? Many thanks in anticipation Simo Pro Tools HD Native PCI-e 12.5.1, HD I/O, Windows 10, Intel i7-6900K CPU @ 3.20GHz, 64GB RAM |

Avid HD I/O and Digidesign 192
The Digilink license is needed after Pro Tools HD 12.6 for any Pro Tools HD DigiLink based system to work. It has nothing to do with what is daisy chained off what other box, it is all using DigiLink.
What is the real issue here? the 192 IO not working? What exactly is not working? Did you default the IO in Pro Tools? Did you ever see it working? Remove the HD IO. Connect the 192 IO to the previous use DigiLink cable. Does the system pass Digitest now? What IO boards are in exactly what slots in the 192 IO? What shows up on the Setup>Hardware pages? In a new empty session default the IO on the Setup>IO pages. Post screenshots of The hardware setup pages and IO pages if there are still problems, or the Digitest errors if that fails. Re: Avid HD I/O and Digidesign 192
Thanks for the reply Darryl,
Basically with that configuration I couldn't even switch on the HD I/O at all ! The light around the power button was orange instead of the usual green and it wouldn't even turn on. I then disconnected the HD I/O and connected the 192 instead to the HD Native card as you suggested and Pro Tools was happy with that. So I tried to reconnect everything again as described on the first post and now the HD I/O start happily and both interfaces are now recognised . weird, perhaps it was one cable not connected properly? (even though I'm pretty sure it wasn't) So, basically no DigiLink License required (yet) . would I need to get one if I'll update Pro Tools from my current version (12.5.1)? Thanks Simo |

Re: Avid HD I/O and Digidesign 192
PT12.6 and above requires a DigiLink software so the answer is yes.
