Default BENEFITS OF MORE RAM?

hey, right now i have 512 MB of RAM and im wondering what all of the benefits of going up to a Gig would be. please respond.

with OSX plenty of ram is needed, you'll have all your apps open , everything will work as advertised

Have you ever tried to open an application only to have your mac tell you that you didn't have enough memory available to open it? (because you already had too many apps opened).

1) Yes? Well more memory will prevent that.

2) No? Then more memory won't change a thing.

More RAM will allow you to do more signal processing and may be necessary for certain plug-ins with complex user interfaces. More RAM will support more complex automation in your sessions. More RAM can be used for larger DAE buffers when your disk is slow or your edit density is high.
