Mercury elite-al pro drive does not work

Although approved by Pro Tools. I received today 2 OWC Mercury Elite AL Pro drives.
SPEC
FIREWIRE 4OO AND USB
250 GIG SATA
OXFORD 934
7200 RPM
32MB BUFFER

HD3 ACCELL
G5 2.7
PRO TOOLS 8
OS 10.5.8
ERRORS DAE -9131 AND DAE -9060

I have tried everything. Re formatting, different firewire busses, trashing prefs. I have ran HD3 for years and never hardly had a drive problem. Perhaps the ones they ship now dont work with PT.

Are you daisy chaining the drives? Try connecting them one at a time and see what happens. Daisy chaining is known to cause issues, especially with older computers and newer Oxford chips.

Also, just curious as to why you didn't go for the Firewire 800 model. Definitely faster and higher track count per drive.

You need to find Drive Genius and re initialize as APPLE NOT GUID
its messed up but trust me
Disk Utility WILL NOT allow you
same prob here and this was the only solution

9131 and 9060 are not specifically drive performance errors. They're usually caused by an incorrectly formatted drive, running virus protection or other utilities in the background or having illegal characters somewhere in your file path.

How are these drives formatted, exactly?

Not True the Apple Disk utility will allow GUID, or Non GUID formatting

But since it is not a formatting function to change a partition map you can find
this function and selection in the partition tab in the disk utility
just select 1 partition and then options button, you will then see all 3 partition maps available

You are a star, you have saved my bacon and actually you can do it in disc utility. Under partition set one partition and set it for apple not guid under options.
