Wanting to upgrade to LE 8
Hello,
I am getting very frustrated ! I live and work in France, yet am British. I tried to call pre-sales support since last Friday in France and in the UK, yet NOBODY answers phones OR replies to emails. A few years ago I purchased Avid XPress Studio HD essentials which came with a version of LE 6.5. I have just upgraded to Media Composer 3.1.3 and my Pro tools will not work either with MC or on my new quad core computer. I have seen articles on the digidesign site which talks about LE 7.4 living with MC 3.0 and LE 8.0 living with MC 3.5 - however I fall in between these two. Here are my questions for anyone kind enough to answer them : If I upgrade to Pro Tools LE 8.0, will it
Best regards Simon Giddings |

Re: Wanting to upgrade to LE 8
One thing I CAN answer for you is #2......you need to create a Pro Tools Session, fly in/import the video and audio files, edit audio, then you can bounce audio back to your movie. BUT they must be Quick-time (.mov) files to play correctly in Pro Tools.
So the long and short of it? #2...no. Other thing is that Pro Tools doesn't "play well with others" so if you're wanting to have two different programs (PTLE and MC??) open at the same time, it'll probably give you trouble. #4...yes, I have PT8LE working just fine with my original Mbox. Do us a favor and post a system report (Sandra) on your PC and maybe we can point you in the right direction. http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=193637 |

Re: Wanting to upgrade to LE 8
I think MC 3.5 is a free upgrade from 3.x (got an e-mail as a free option after buying 3.0) but I have yet to upgrade. 3.0 just works so I didn't bother.
Other than that I am afraid I cant help you. I have dedicated systems for MC and PT and never shall the two mix :) I would try the AVID user forum, or wait for an answer from DIGI. regarding #2 I still think you need to export OMF to PT and then import the bounced mix back to MC, but again I could be out of the loop on the workflow using a single system for both. Not much help I know

Thankyou for taking the time and trouble to give what information you could.
It will be interesting to see if the Digi admin would answer ! |

Since this is a USERS forum, they aren't under obligation. But they usually do anyway!
