Horrible noise on bass amp when recording!
hello!
i was recommended to use a DI box when recording the bass. so i record the DI box signal and the amp signal, which i mic up. its sounds really good but the DI box signal is very noisy and sometimes the amp signal is. on there own separately they are perfect. i have recorded keyboards with the DI box and there is no noise! i have tried different leads, plugged the mac and amp into different sockets, i even tried to bypass the DI box using a splitter, but no change. i think i have isolated down to when the amp is connected to my 1814 via the DI or whatever it picks up the noise. i think its the mac, cos when the mac "thinks" the noise changes. has anyone heard of this before and how can i stop it? Mac Mini, FW 1814, behringer active DI box (http://www.behringer.com/DI20/index.cfm?lang=ENG), squire bass, carlsbro bass bomber amp thanks! |

There's your problem right there: crappy DI box with poor noise rejection. How about losing the DI, and just recording the amp? It works for me 90% of the time. |

Can I ask how you have the DI connected? Did you try lifting the GROUND on the DI to see if the noise went away?
