Default Need Mix Advice!

Hello,

I've been working on a mix for this new song and honestly...It's driving me crazy!

For starters, when we recorded the drums, we had SO much bleed that I've had to go in and surgically remove the excess bleed from each track and using Sound Replacer, go back in and replace each drum (with the exception of the overheads).

The electric guitars and vocals sound peircing and overall the mix has no presence at all!! The whole thing sounds very narrow.

I realize this is only the demo of the song, however, I really want something halfway decient to play for everyone before actually deciding if we're gonna cut this thing for real.

Any suggestions???? Thanks in advance for your help.

Bleed??? Fom the OHs, or other instruments???

Maybe that bleed was a good thing, and replacing drums with samples thinned out your mix???

Hello there! Thanks for your reply!

Funny, I thought the same thing too at first, but when I compaired the 2 mixes, I found that since there were 8 drum tracks, that the bleed was so intense that it was creating an ungodly "mud" in the mix. I should state that this is a contemporary country song that really needs that cleanlieness, yet punch and fullness (if that makes any sense LOL), that i'm used to hearing.

Thank you again for your reply, I truly appreciate it!
