Default Where is HEAT?

Trying 12.1HD, but not seeing HEAT. Is there a trick to it? Separate download?

You need an HD iLok asset and a HEAT iLok asset.

Then it should be installed by the app automatically.

It's installed with the PT software. Make sure your HEAT license is on the same ilok2 as PT12HD. There are 3 things you need to do to your session if you want to use it:

1. Go to the options menu and select "ACTIVATE HEAT"
2. Go to the MIX window shows -> menu and select "HEAT". You will now see the bypass controls for HEAT at the top of your audio tracks.
3. On the right hand side of the mix window, click on the <-| icon in the bottom right to show the global heat controls.

Okay, so how do I get the iLok license? I see none in the Available column. Only PT12 etc.

Unless it was included with an HD system when you purchased it, the HEAT license is a separate purchase from PT12HD. The HEAT software is built in to Pro Tools 12HD, but will not be available unless you own the HEAT license as well.

Ah, so with 12.1HD it's NOT a thing that non-pre-existing-HEAT owners can use then? They made it sound like it was now available simply if you had 12.1HD. Oh well.

They made it sound as if it was now available without the hardware connected to existing Heat users.

Correct, the "hype" was that up until now, it was DSP only so you needed either TDM or HDX to run it. It does sound great though, and there are plenty of used copies floating around on ebay, etc. for less than the new price.

Just to be sure not to waste money, please, let me ask the question one more time.

Is it right that I ONLY need to get the iLok asset for HEAT as long as I have a PT12HD
license on my ilok?
I don´t need any HEAT app/program/software which I guess to have seen for around
$500-600.- anytime in the past on Ebay if I remember correctly?

So if I already have a PT12HD license, the only thing to be able to use HEAT will be to
buy the HEAT iLok asset for around 130-180.- on Ebay?
Having the HEAT license on my iLok will automatically enable HEAT within my PT12HD?

Thanks in advance for your patience, just need to be absolutely sure not to have to
invest $500-600.- again after buying the HEAT license (which I simply would not be
able to at the moment).
