How is Protools 2018 behaving on the 2010 cheese grater Mac?
I wanted to buy one of the 12 core 3.46 units last year but waited..
So Are these still good with the new protools?
Im on 12.8.3 on a 2012 MacBook pro right now, but would like an
additional mac system..price for power looks good with these units,
but are they reliable?
I'll be running a black lion upgrade 002r and an 11 rack if that matters.

I recently moved off of the machine you are referencing here. Had no problems to speak of. I was running 2018.7 HDX / Onmi HD on High Sierra 10.13.2. I can't speak for 11 rack or the 002r, but if they are working on your MBp, I'm sure it will using a cheesegrater.

You can put unit from places like iPowerResale.com that will offer a 3 year warranty with their old stock units. For an additional $249 for extended warranty, you can get a inexpensive, but powerful machine with a 3 year life line. Re-group after 3 years to see if you're still happy.

Running very well here.
Totally stable with hundreds of tracks and plugins (including some VI's and bridged 32bit plugins).
I'm also using multiple video files in each session.
I don't think I've had a single crash with 2018.7.

Thanks for the help guys! One more question.
I found an upgraded 2009, 12 core 3.46 should that work well?
I thought I remember issues with the 2009, but maybe that was just the
original processors?
For now Im trying out 2018 alongside 12.8.3..
