If you only connect that one interface, can you run all sample rates then? Are the firmware versions same on all three boxes? Are you sure all your loop sync cables are connected properly (and in working condition)?

So did Digitest pass OK?
Does this happen with the bad 192 IO only connected with everything else disconnected?
Does it happen with every Digilink Cable?
How long is the cable?
Do you know this 192 IO was actually working OK elsewhere?

JFreak, Had the Playback Engine wrong....my bad. The first two are working now. but not the most recent one.

I ran the firmware update on all 3 but the most recent one is still not recognized.

Yes, all cables seem to function. I swapped them out between the working ones and the most recent one several times.

Darryl: Running Digitest now
I have about a 8ft cable running to the 1ft adapter to the Primary.
The party I bought it from said it wasn't tested for HD Native.

Whether it's alone or looped the most recent 192 does not get recognized. "Unable to find an Audio Interface attached to the HD Native card."

The party is very negotiable about sending it back if i have to. He said he had it checked with an HD Core card but not a Native card. I dont know that much about the difference. I guess I need to make sure these are tested for HD Native from now on.

FWIW, both of my 192 IO's were bought used and both came from older HD/TDM setups. Both just worked on my HDN rig with no firmware update(of course this all happened 3 years ago). It might be worth popping the top and reseating the connectors on the cards, especially the digital IO card(slot 3) because if that card is bad or disconnected, the entire unit will not function(IOW, all 192's need a working digital IO card in slot 3). This doesn't mean you need to USE the digital IO, but the card needs to function

Also, remember that the DB-25 analog connectors are made for balanced use only. If you use them unbalanced, the cold side must NOT be grounded or it will damage the unit(you may already know this, but without reading the manual, many folks don't). This is the same with the newer HD IO(not sure about the newest MTRX boxes)

That’s good to know Dave. My other 192s were not updated either. I did receipt all the cables. Tried my best to get this going but I don’t know anymore. The party is very kind and is going to send another one along with a return slip for this one. That digital slot you’re talking about, that is a default digital slot that cannot be replaced by an analog card correct?

DigiDesign 192 slots #1/2 must be analog i/o, slot #3 must be digital i/o, slot #4 can be anything. Except the box called "192 Digital" in which slots #1/2 are digital and slots #3/4 are empty. Avid HD chassis does not have this limitation.

Well, the new 192 came in today and I hooked it up, and it connected right away as the 3rd 192 in my rack.

Thanks you guys for helping me, even though I didn't explain the situation right. Still learning...

I'm wondering why the other one didn't connect.. Are the 192's internally adjusted to work with other versions and not with HD Native?

Shout out to "GSharp Music" for great service and a great attitude.

No, any 192 should work with any Avid card between HD/TDM, HD/Native(PCIe card or Thunderbolt box) and HDX cards. At worst, there might be a firmware update to run, but I never needed to with my 192's from PT11 HD on up to12.6
