Default Prores 442

Hey guys, will Prores 442 HD play with PTLE+CPTK and blackmagic intensity pro? If not, can I convert it on my end and still layback to the same timeline that Prores was exported from safely? My research tells me it should Im also not convinced, but can it be output via PCIE? I duno,

Basically the hard drive has been shipped from far away and the video files are ProRes 442. Thats where I am at.

Cheers

Yep. I have that exact setup and use ProRes almost exclusively. It works great.

It works great - there's lots of people here doing that.

Hey guys, my drive arrived today. I opened up the OMFs and threw the prores videos into the timeline however the video will not go PCIE out through the blackmagic!

I just saw this, cant figure out why. I will keep messing around. They play fine in the tiny floating window over my PT monitors but I cant work like that, I need that real estate for PT functions. When I click out to PCIE I get a blank screen. Tested other videos the screen and BM intensity work fine.

Any advice? I really need to get to work on this project asap! Thanks everyone!!!

Ok so heres the problem. Blackmagic intensity (as someone said before in a previous thread) can not handle 1080p. I always thought it couldm I mean i've seen it happen. Maybe with some codecs. But not Prores 442. I converted to ProRes 442 1080i and all is good in the hood!

Will this affect sync when the picture department does laybacks? I havent checked with the 2pop/tailpops yet since I only exported a small section to test.

This won't make any difference, as each frame of the progressive file has just been converted to 2 identical fields. Timing hasn't been affected.

I usually just default to 720P, less processing than 1080i and if your monitor supports 720 (which I think it should) it'll still look great.

Hmm... I use 1080p files all the time. The Blackmagic sends them out 1080i, my TV converts them back to 1080p and I can't even tell that any conversion has taken place. I did have a TV that wasn't compatible with the HDMI output of the Intensity Pro when I first got the card, so I think the TV may be the culprit in your 1080p incompatibility.

Hmm, well the TV is a high end Samsung 40" LCD. I believe Postman stated in another thread that it cant handle 1080p from the BMI, which is really wierd because it handles 1080p from the blue ray player... I asked the Blackmagic to downconvert in realtime but that also did not work.. Ive converted all reels to 1080i, I dont think its going to hurt me to edit audio with 1080i video. As Mike said, I probably should have gone 720p but I dont have time to convert again. Hopefully the director doesnt get too annoyed staring at 1080i during the final mix.
