OH! MY GOD directIO.dll

When I try to open my pro tools it say something about I need to get directIO.dll

Anyone know why this is prompting up...

I have the cd but its old and scratched up now

and I had to restore my whole comp now nothing wants to work

Do you have any Avid video editing software installed? I experienced this same problem after installing Avid Media Composer. Didn't have this problem with Avid Express Pro. Mistake was probably installing the Avid drivers for Digi hardware, but not sure. Ended up having to reinstall my PTLE hard drive image to restore proper PTLE functionality. Not sure how to fix it as I haven't needed video editing capabilities since and don't need the hassle of working it out right now due to pressing audio project deadlines. But I will have to sooner or later ... and I'm scared ...

I know this probably won't help much, but ...

Hi,

I'm having the exact same issue, and wondering if you were able to resolve it.

Here's my deal:

I bought an MBox 15 months ago on a PC running XP. I then replaced my PC with one running Vista, so I couldn't install ProTools because the disc was for XP.

I called up support and was able to download a Vista version of ProTools (LE 7.3.1). I've since had to replace my computer again, and now when I try to run ProTools (which I had installed on my external harddrive) I get an error message saying could not find "DirectIO.dll" and to reinstall ProTools.

But I can't reinstall because I don't have the disc.

As I wrote in your other thread argexpat, 7.3 is not compatible with Vista.
Only 7.4 and 8.0 are Vista versions of Pro Tools.

you say that you don't have the CD because you downloaded the software but in this post you say the CD is too old and scratch up to re-install it.

No it's scratched ...... it's not cracked

He could have downloaded it and burned it to a CD then lost the link. Has anyone told him to check his "My Digi" account?

In the end it won't help solve his problem.
He (argexpat) is attempting to install 7.3.1 on Vista... not gonna happen.

Rite; & it would seem to be obvious to go to ur Digi acct. if u know u pruchased it...@ least I would think, but hey, what do I know
