Default Best Tube DI for Bass and Synth?

I'm checking out for a massive tube di for bass guitar and analog synth keys. I was checking out the Avalon U5 and the Demeter, what do you guys think the best is and best for the money? Thanks!

Nothing but praise for the Avalon U5, which is what I would get. I'm not even a fan of their 737 pre, but the U5 is a different beast.

U5 rockin eh? I"m gonna run it along side a seventh circle API channel and NEVE channel for guitars vocals and drums. then the U5 for synths and bass. good setup? I was about to get the UA 2108 but my friend was saying the seventh circle stuff is phenomenal and you can have up to 8 channels in a 2U space. So eventually I could track a full set of drums through it... that'd rule. any advice? thanks!!

the u5 is not tube- but it sounds great. I wouldn't exactly say it's massive sounding- very smooth and pretty clean overall, but with a touch of subtle character.

I have two and run all my synths through them...these things are GREAT on bass as well.

I also have the UA 2108 (funny you should mention it as well) and it's a fantastic pre. A little on the dark side...can be overdriven and gets kind of aggressive and saturated. Very nice top end- especially with bright mics- seems to complement them well.

two u5's, a 2108, and a 4 channel sebatron would be a great front end. I can't see why you'd need more than 6 pres for drums...I never use more than four. Maybe a great river mp2nv down the road for a solid 8 channels up front. The seventh circle stuff looks cool and i've heard nothing but praise about it.

Hey - question on the Seventh Circle stuff - did you buy fully assembled pres from them or build them from kits? Curious.
