Re: Pro Tools Times Out Trying to Stop
I am a Mac user and am getting this same error on Pro Tools 11. I am using an older MBOX 2 but I see others with newer interfaces are getting the same error. Any update on this?

Re: Pro Tools Times Out Trying to Stop
Jason, I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a fix for this error? I have to restart my computer many times just to continue my project. I just recently bought this computer and it handles Adobe CC video editing suite like at champ. Here are my comuter specs....I have a Dell Alienware Aurora Computer Intel Core i9 9900K 3.6GHz Processor; NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti 11GB GDDR6; 32GB DDR4-2666 RAM; 1TB SSD
I would have thought the an audio editing DAW would be less challenging than an intense Video editing project with special effects and graphics added to it. Did you ever find a fix?? Thanks, Scott |

Re: Pro Tools Times Out Trying to Stop
UPDATE: SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND...WEDNESDAY MARCH 31, 2020
After struggling with this error message for a couple of days I may have stumbled onto a fix... at least it allows me to keep working without having to perform a computer restart. After I receive the error message: "Pro Tools has time out trying to stop" My project would be essentially frozen. I discovered if I open up the Hardware Setting and change the buffer to 128 it somehow refreshes the project and it starts working again... NOTE: the buffer in my system is actually locked so it won't really change... and my computer sends me a pop up message that tells me... "your buffer is locked at 64". But then I'm back in business. I have also noticed that when I attempt to open the Hardware settings... at first the Hardware option is missing... but then when I try again a few seconds later it pops up where it should be. Please let me know if this fix works for you as well. I'm using the Focusrite Scarlet 2i4 for my USB interface... Here are my computer specifications... Re: Pro Tools Times Out Trying to Stop
I just got this error for the first time tonight! Mac user, Mac Pro 2013, Mojave OS with PT 2020.9.0 and HDX. Very weird. I am at 128 buffer size currently, but I didn't know to try the hack above with selecting/reselecting the buffer size. I will try that next time. This first time I was able to eventually close the session and save it. I realize that this is the PT 12 thread, but maybe the issue is cropped up again in the latest version? Looks that way.

Re: Pro Tools Times Out Trying to Stop
Hi everyone.
After experiencing the same issue , I adjusted the playback engine H/W Buffer Size to smaller samples and it worked. You can also attempt to use larger samples which may also work to resolve the issue you are experiencing. Write, record and reward. Have fun! |
