Default I just gotta say...

It took me several months and a lot of hassle to get it right, but I've reached a landmark of 2 months without a single ProTools crash. I can officially say that OS10.5.7/HD3/8.0cs3 is the most stable ProTools experience I have ever had in 15 years of full-time, professional use.

Thanks!

Yeah I'v had the odd crash but I've cranked out so much work since changing to PT8 in December 08.
I would say 98% trouble free.
I have lost some RTAS power but I've worked around it and I don't even lust after a more powerful machine anymore.
My focus has gone totally to the creation and right away from gear lust.
That's a sign of a stable system in my view.

Yeah, what did you do? My PT 8 is giving me hell! Much slower than 7.4, and much less stable when running VIs. I can't even open some sessions that ran fine in 7.4.

I find that as long as I don't run rewire it's very stable.

And the main trick is to make sure to hit STOP before making any changes on a VI etc...

And be sure to tell your DAW just how much you appreciate his/her hard work...that seems to help.

Mine seems quite stable now too, mainly thanks to the numerous tips on this board. So a big thank you to everyone. Kiss kiss.
