MIDI Sustain Problem In Playback

Hey DUC -

So I'm familiar with the MIDI Merge issues when using the sustain pedal and recording. This is not that problem.

Every once in a while, a sustained chord will refuse to let up in MIDI during playback. I mean, it goes away eventually, but in the short term it just blurs into the next chord, which is frustrating.

I tried to fix the problem by physically drawing the sustain on and off, and even moving it, but no joy. I duplicated the track, changed synthesizers, and the problem remains no matter what box I trigger. I tried turning MIDI merge off, but this didn't work, either.

I'm pleased to say that this doesn't happen all the time, but once in a while it does, and it's a pain. I'd appreciate any tips on how to solve this problem. Thanks.

I get that too in PT 7.4.2, but it's very rare, so I'm not really bothered by it. But, I suspect it has something to do with me pressing stop/play quickly before a sustain 0 (zero) controller message is read, so it just hangs.
