Default Set number of processors in PT11?

How do I set the number of processors used in Pro Tools 11?

I have an 8 core Mac Pro running Mountain Lion and get instant CPU overload on tiny sessions at 128 samples. I looked in playback engine and don't see the # of cores selector anymore.

You don't. The new engine does it for you.

Hmmm... maybe it's just my EastWest Pianos library... I'll have to load it up with some other plugs and see when it chokes.

I would have thought I could set it to 64 samples and still be able to track a VI against a dozen audio tracks with EQs and compressors.

Why would you want to do that? Set the buffer to 256 and be fine with it. In case some diva has a problem with latency of 5ms you can ask her if she has ever wanted to hear any reverb in her cans. Any reverb out there has AD/DA latency of 5ms or so, not to mention any pre delays....

I personally don't enjoy the mushy feeling at 256 samples and having to manually tweak the timing later. For raw input that is going to be quantized, sure... 512 samples is fine, but to capture a performance that isn't going to be quantized, no go on 256.

128 is acceptable.
