Hardware disconnects when protools is opened!

I have digi002, protools le running on a G5. i've been useing the system for over a year now and all of a sudden this problem occurs. when protools is not in use the digicore shows all in/outs are connected. when i open protools the digicore reads that the hardware is not connected and in use with another program even though no programs are opened. once it disconnects i have to restart everything beacuase it will not reconnect. i have tried uninstalling the software and made sure all wires are connected but no change, has anyone had this problem and any suggestions on a solution? of course i've called dididesign and received no help because it's past my 90days. please can anyone help!!!?
