Yamaha Motif 6 + 001 5.2.1 on OS9?
I'm seriously considering a yamaha Motif 6 to use with my 001 LE setup on OS9.
One feature on the Motif6 is a built-in USB-midi bridge, so I only need to run USB to the keyboard. I'm just curious, since I've had a lot of MIDI aggravations, does this interface work correctly? Any other things to consider wrt the Motif 6? Thanks. |

This set up will give you hell. Trust me. I've been through it before. It works, but not smoothly.

Bummer. Can you clue me in on how/if you got it working?
This midi stuff is driving me nuts lately. I'm even having problems with the 001's own midi port sometimes. It may be that my machine (a new 1.25ghz G4 MDD boots OS9) is too new and OMS is just plain too old to function reliably anymore. I dig the Motif 6 sounds, but I really want reliable and seamless operation all around. |

Re: Yamaha Motif 6 + 001 5.2.1 on OS9?
I use Motif 6 and LE 5.2.
I never could work out the midi side, i have my mac connected to Motif with that USB Midi cable directly. This is good for using the File Utility software that comes with Motif (you can see on the screen all your Motif files, midi files, audio files, samples etc) You can also drag and drop an aiff or wav audio file from you mac desktop - into the file utility program - and it will transfer the audio to motif (at mind bogglingly slow speed!) through the USB cable, it will show up on your smart media card or SCSI device...but it gets there! You can load that audio file in to a Motif voice and turn it upside down... The midi side of things i don't know anyone who ever figured out how to get multiple motif midi channels configured with LE. You can create an LE midi track, turn off local control on motif and record midi on the LE midi track in VOICE mode, but then if you go to create another midi track and want to record a different instrument onto it (this is what midi is for right?)..and have BOTH those (plus any others) play back in your PT session...HOW? I don't know. |
