Default Newbie with basic Dumb Midi Question

Someday I hope to be using sampletank or reason or battery along with my Protools system but for now, basic midi is what I want. I have been using my protools rig for a couple years when I get the chance but, I've never hooked up my M1 to it and utilized the midi capabilities.
My system is Protools Le 001 on a PC w/1gig processor/Windows Me . 512 MB RAM /and an 80 and a 30 gig hard drive.
Anyway, question - I connected my M1 to my Protools interface set up the track and the Aux track like the Manual said to do. However I can seem to get audio to the actual track. I am connected to the front ins as well from my out on the M1.
Once it is on there, shouldn't I see like little blue dots that represent midi info?
I set my M1 to Midi ext in the global settings. Still nothing.Any direction is greatly appreciated!

Bonsoir!
