Trouble with Artist Control (please read)
Ok, I would try something...
Leave Ethernet 1 for internet use Use Ethernet 2 with a totally different range only for Artist, with a Point to Point connection: i.e Ethernet 2 Manually IP Adress 192.200.0.2 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Router 192.200.0.1 (this router doesn't exist, but you always have to give a correlated router IP) No DNS needed Unit 192.200.0.3 Conections: Ethernet 2 straight to the Unit Good luck! |

Re: Trouble with Artist Control (please read)
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have already tried that (on its separate NIC with a dedicated subnet) but didn't seem to help. Thanks Alex |

Re: Trouble with Artist Control (please read)
I've been working with them on the exact same issue via email. It was suggested that I try point-to-point but I see that that didn't work for you (a quick test here didn't work either). I'd sent a couple of updates about my situation but haven't heard back in quite a while. I'm assuming that they've given up though they've not informed me of this, nor have they responded to multiple recent attempts to continue the conversation.

Re: Trouble with Artist Control (please read)
Okay, just to let you know what I've been doing and it works most of the time and will go all day in a session without an issue.
Make sure you go to your System Preference > EUCON Preferences and under Network Interface make sure you select the interface that is being used to connect to the machine. If you are connecting the Artist Control to a network switch and not direct to the machine, then you could select the interface you have on your mac that is connected to the network, but it may not work all the time because the EUCON software does a handshake with the hardware. If that handshake is not successful, then the software is unstable, and will most likely crash. I have a cheapo Moshi USB 10/100 ethernet adapter plugged into my keyboard usb (which is detected by the machine as it's own network adapter). This network is plugged into a 5 port switch which is connected to nothing else except two mixes and one control. If I ever have a problem a restart will fix my problems for the rest of my day. It is worth noting, things like sleep, screensavers, etc. all can cause this communication to break. Get Caffeine for your mac to prevent it from going into any low-power or standby modes. Hopefully some of this helps. :) |
