Post Re: Downloading Trial Version of ProTools

Hello amathie,

Thank you for you interest in Pro Tools. We do not offer a trial of v12 since that is now available as a subscription. Previous versions were only available as perpetual licenses for purchase which is why a trial was provided.

Best regards,
JC

Thanks for that.

Do you know how I can download the Trial version of PT11 that I have been sent an iLoc licence for?

You can register for a trial download and there you will be able to get the installer for the PT11 version. The installers are only available from Avid accounts with users who paid for the full licenses and not on Avids website so you need to register for the trial and follow the steps there

Thanks Christopher,

I have already applied, received an iLok 30 day licence and an email thanking me for trying ProTools (see attachment).
Perhaps I have missed another email with a download link.

What do you suggest I do?

Thanks

Didn't you see any download links for the registration?

If you can't find it (look in the trash) i will escalate this and see if Avid can help you with the links doe download.

As it is middle of the night there at Avid it may be a few hours before i get any answers from them but hang tight.

Hello amathie,

The page after you submit your iLok User ID has links for the installers. If you are not seeing this please try another browser.

You can complete the form again to get to that page (you just won't get another trial license).

Default Re: Why is there no Pro Tools 12 Trial?

I'd like to revive this thread. Avid is putting in new updates in 12 now reaching the .5 stage. I've used the PT11 trail in the past and would like to do the same for the PT 12.5 version but no trial version.

Of course renting is an option, but the whole point of a trial is to be able to try it out without having to pay. (except for an iLok although for protools first you also don't need one.) The other main Avid product Media Composer has a perfectly fine working trial. What is the big deal here? Every pro in the business will want to know if the new features work (as expected) and is compatible with his or her hardware.

Avid, as I can find no information explaining why you have ended the trial version for PT12.5, would you care to explain what the thought is behind this?

Maybe PT12 is not available as a free trial because its bug ridden and Avid doesn't want to put you off from renting or buying it by letting you test run it for free! All those $30 trials (one month rental) add up and help the bottom line, even if it's all they'll ever get from triallists.

Hi Nigel,

As a long term Avid products user I've seen some of the good and bad Avid moments passing by. A lot of criticism holds merit and I support all those that rant for good reasons. But what you are suggesting here goes a step too far I think.

Avid releasing software so bad that they intentionally cancel the release of a trial version??? There's not a lot of future for them in the professional market if they are doing that IMHO.
