Default Dig001 and Highpoint controllers

Hi guys,
Stil saving for the digi, nearly there!

Would really appreciate feedback from anyone running digi with the ABIT BE6-II motherboard, two IDE drives on the UDMA-66 channels (3 and 4 running at 66 not 33), using by the Highpoint controller V1.21.

It's really strange becuase W98 says it's using Windows HDD controller drivers, yet under SCSI the highpoint drivers appear happy and fully functional. Eric says that he has had more success with the windows drivers for IDE, Do I therefore uninstall the Highpoint driver???
Anyway would be iterested to hear your exoeriences.
Cheers lots guys,
Aidan.

I remember hearing from another user that the Highpoint driver acts as a Win98 SCSI Miniport driver (even though it's based on ATA technology), so I think what you're seeing is normal.

i'm NOT using ata/66 on my abit it was causing drive too slow errors?so i diabled it in my bios and just used the two ata/33 interfaces for my drives..everything runs very smooth now no problems.. i heard you can just disable USB and still use the ata/66 controller?but i need USB so i never tried it ...

Great info - Ta.

Do you just disable the USB controller in Win98 then? Or is there something at BIOS level to disable? (not currently on my Abit pc!!)

Thanks kindly for your help Rokhead and Eric.

Aidan )
