Default File name Length ??!!?? PT 6.1

Why is it that OSX gives us so many and PT so little???
Why do I have to name files in the Finder to use over 29 characters and I still can't see all of them in Digi Base??!!
What is up with this? It sounds like more Digi proprietary ignore the OS and the programing rules BS. Sort of the way PT takes over all mounted disks when its running - something an ap under Unix isn't suposed to be able to do.

One step forward one step back.

I think the idea is that sessions should be compatible between OS 9 and OS X... so the lowest common denominator rules. Currently PT 6.x sessions are compatible between platforms.

The filename should be truncated OS 9 protools, just like it is an OS 9 operating-system, when you go from OS tend to OS 9.

I would accept that except for two things. I go back and forth between OS 9 and X and the files are usable in both systems and only apear truncated in OS9. And once long ago when I was on Windows I went through the same transition from short file names (8.3) to long ones and it all worked seamlessly in the BG. So I know it's not a big deal to have the files apear as they should. And since I can name them in the finder as long as I want and they work fine I know its not an issue with the file name it's just a quirk of PT.
