"Clean Uninstall" Pro Tools 10 after moving over to Pro Tools 11?
Hi all,
I've had PT10 and PT11 co-installed for several months but am finally able to fully move over to PT11 since most plugin companies have caught up. I want to uninstall PT10 now as I have limited drive space on my laptop. Is it safe to do a "Clean Uninstall" of PT10 and still have PT11 function completely? Do I need to "Safe Uninstall"? Any help is much appreciated, thanks! |

I would think a clean install would be the way to go. But I would clone your system drive first just to be safe. You could then boot off the clone and run the clean uninstall on it, instead of your internal boot drive, and see if it works there. If it does you can then do the uninstall to your internal system drive.
Maybe someone else will chime in and tell you you can do it without worry, but better to be safe than sorry. |

Do a Clean Uninstall.
The Safe Uninstall option is only for people who have Media Composer co-installed on the same system.

Hopefully you're not on Mavericks

Cool, clean uninstall it is!
I thought PT11 was Mavericks compatible? |

Yes it is, but PT10 is not. You cannot uninstall PT10 on Mavericks, that's the problem. So what I recommend is take the time to do a clean complete re-install starting from backing up everything, wiping the system drive, and installing OSX again.

I installed Mckeeper which solved the problem for me. I was able to use the Application to succesfully uninstall PT 10. I am now running Mavericks 10.9.2 and PT 11.1.2 flawless With some minor bugs. That saved me for a lot of trouble

Re: "Clean Uninstall" Pro Tools 10 after moving over to Pro Tools 11?
Ah, good thing I'm still on Mountain Lion. I did a clean install of Mountain Lion when I upgraded and actually moved everything back over manually and it was a huge PITA, could I just use migration assistant this time to move stuff back over from the backup drive after wiping and clean installing Mavericks? The biggest pain was reinstalling and activating all my 3rd party plugs, will all those move over with migration assistant? I'm guessing I'll need to dump Waves licenses into The Cloud, but what about Pro Tools? Will I need to re-install that too or will migration assistant take care of it?

Re: "Clean Uninstall" Pro Tools 10 after moving over to Pro Tools 11?
I have done plenty of work with Migration Assistant. I have found that it is useful for moving user home directories. It is not useful for moving anything that used an installer (i.e. Pro Tools 10) or anything that you dragged and dropped to somewhere other than /Applications.
