Default PT9 with DM-4800 need comp. advice

Hi All, I run 7.something right now on my 002r. I need to build a new computer for PT9 and use my Tascam DM-4800 as my interface. I read a bunch about the computers and builds, it's a bit overwhelming.... Does anyone have any advice for buying or building a nice PC with win 7 that will work really good. It has to have firewire though. Thanks in advance. Mike

Read the i7 Builds thread(first 2 pages are plenty). Here's your basic guideline:
Intel i7 is the best, but AMD can work fine on a budget(quad core minimum)
with intel: socket 1366 with x58 chipset motherboard(i7 950 is best cpu bang for the buck)
Asus boards will need a separate compatible firewire card(gigabyte firewire usually works) can't comment on other brands
Power supply of 550 watts or bigger
nVidia graphics are recommended over ATI(but ATI will often work fine) and you don't need to spend a ton of money(plenty of $50-75 cards will do a fine job)
Don't buy any motherboard with built-in graphics
Dual hard drive minimum(3 is better-system, recording and samples)
NO "GREEN" drives(SSD are okay for system or samples, NOT for recording) Spend some time reading the DUC and take note of signatures listing successful builds
There may be some limitation as to how the IO works on your DM-4800(maximum of 32 IO in PT9).
